Overseas Stocks Are Rallying. Is the Bottom In?

Stocks have been moving higher. What began in Europe, spread to China, and is now beginning to show up elsewhere. Here are some charts displaying the shift in market tone in these areas. The 2023 market outlooks are beginning to flow. Below is an overview of next year possibilities put together by Delta.

“Since the Great Financial Crisis (GFC, 2008-09), the stock market trended higher on low interest rates, double digit GDP growth in China, and robust non-cyclical growth from the major technology companies. What would happen if the Fed Funds rate jumped from zero to 4% in a single year? What would happen if China’s GDP growth became hobbled by non-stop Covid lockdowns? We have noted multiple times recently that the post-election market is almost always a very good one; lots of December upside usually as investors breathe a collective sigh of relief that election uncertainty has passed and the country can get back to business. This time we have seen, perhaps, a bit of an early rush as stocks ripped higher on election day and kept on going from there. (more…)

This week’s shocking currency move by China brought currencies and their management into the spotlight. The Chinese lowered their currency “peg” to a surprisingly low number as a retaliatory move in the trade skirmish with the Trump Administration.

This Is Not the Dot Com Boom All over Again

Getting Nervous?

When our most recent TimingCube Turbo Model Buy signal was sent out on December 6 we can bet that no one expected it would still be in place five months later with a gain (using the QQQ) of over +18%. While the trend, especially on the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ), remains up, and strong earnings growth reports coming in this month appear supportive of the market, some fund managers are nervous. (more…)
